About converting Word to PDF

Converting a .docx to PDF locks in the layout so it looks the same for everyone who opens it, regardless of their fonts or Word version — the usual reason to send a PDF rather than the editable document.

PDFCure renders the document in your browser and writes it out as a PDF. Straightforward documents — letters, reports, resumes — convert cleanly. Very complex Word features (tracked changes, some field codes, unusual embedded objects) may not survive perfectly, so check the result on documents that rely heavily on them.

Word to PDF — frequently asked questions

Does this work with the old .doc format?+

No — only the modern .docx format is supported.

Will complex formatting like columns or text boxes carry over exactly?+

Basic formatting, headings, and lists convert well; very complex layouts may shift slightly since conversion goes through HTML as an intermediate step.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
