About rotating an image

A photo taken with the phone held sideways, or an image that just needs turning to the right orientation, is a one-click fix rather than something worth opening a full editor for. This tool rotates a photo 90°, 180° or 270° directly in your browser.

The image is decoded onto a canvas, redrawn at the rotated angle (swapping width and height for a 90° or 270° turn), and exported — entirely on your device, with no re-compression beyond the export format's own encoding.

Supported files

Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces the rotated image in the same format.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Rotation happens entirely in your browser on a canvas — the image is never uploaded.

Rotate Image — frequently asked questions

Does rotating lose quality?+

JPG output re-encodes once (minimal loss); PNG and WebP are lossless.

Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle?+

This tool does 90° steps. Arbitrary angles would leave transparent corners.

Is there a free way to rotate a photo 90, 180 or 270 degrees?+

Yes — this tool rotates the image entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Is my file uploaded to rotate it?+

No — rotation happens entirely in your browser on a canvas.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
