About dividing PDF pages into a grid

Similar to splitting horizontally but more flexible: this tool slices every page of a PDF into a grid of rows and columns you choose — a 2×1 split for a two-up scan, or a larger grid for a poster or contact sheet you want broken into printable tiles.

It re-renders each page as an image with pdf.js, cuts it into the grid you specify, and rebuilds the PDF from the resulting tiles with pdf-lib, one new page per grid cell, in reading order — entirely in your browser. As with any re-render-based tool here, selectable text on the source page becomes part of a flattened image in the output.

Supported files

Accepts a PDF and a rows × columns grid. Produces a PDF with one page per grid cell, in reading order.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The grid split runs entirely in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib — nothing is uploaded.

Divide PDF Pages — frequently asked questions

Great for two-page book scans?+

Yes — use left/right to turn each two-up scan into two single pages.

Does it keep text selectable?+

Yes — pages are clipped, not rasterized.

Is there a free way to slice PDF pages into a grid?+

Yes — this tool slices pages into a grid entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Can I choose a grid other than 2×2?+

Yes — set any rows × columns grid, from a simple 2×1 split to a denser grid for a poster or contact sheet.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
