About text-to-speech in the browser

This reads typed or pasted text aloud using your browser's own built-in speech synthesis (the Web Speech API) — the same voices your operating system already has installed, played directly on the page.

There's no download button here by design: browsers don't give a web page any way to capture its own speech-synthesis output as a file, only to play it aloud. If you need a downloadable audio file, play the text here while recording it at the same time with Audio Recorder.

Can I download the audio as a file?+

Which voices are available?+

Whatever voices your operating system and browser have installed — the list and quality vary by device (Windows, macOS, Android and iOS all ship different voice sets).

Is my text sent anywhere?+

No. It's read using your browser's built-in speech synthesis, entirely on your device.

Can it read other languages?+

If your device has a voice installed for that language, yes — pick it from the voice list. Support depends entirely on what your OS/browser provides.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
