About adding a QR code to a PDF

A QR code on a printed page bridges a physical document to something digital — a link to a video, a payment page, a contact card, or just a URL that's painful to type by hand. This tool generates a QR code from any link or text and places it on a page at the position and size you choose.

The code itself is generated as an image directly in your browser from whatever text or URL you enter, then embedded and drawn onto the PDF page with pdf-lib at your chosen position and size — the same underlying placement step as Image Watermark. Nothing about the text you encode, or the PDF, is sent anywhere; the QR image is built entirely on your device.

Supported files

Accepts a PDF plus a link or text to encode. Produces the same PDF with a QR code placed on a chosen page.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The QR code is generated and placed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Add QR Code to PDF — frequently asked questions

What can the QR code link to?+

Anything encodable as text — a URL, an email address, plain text, or a phone number. It's generated and placed entirely in your browser.

Will the QR code still scan after resizing or rotating it?+

Yes — it's generated at high resolution up front, so shrinking or rotating it on the page doesn't affect whether a scanner can read it. Very small sizes can still be hard for a phone camera to focus on, though.

Can I edit the QR code after generating it?+

Not the content — remove it and generate a new one if the link or text needs to change.

Is there a free way to add a QR code to a PDF page?+

Yes — generate one from a link or text and place it anywhere on the page, free and entirely in your browser.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
