About fading a video in and out

A hard cut at the very start or end of a video reads as abrupt — this adds a smooth fade to and from black instead, the standard polish for a clean open or close on a clip that's going to be posted or shared.

The fade is applied by compositing a black overlay onto each frame, with its opacity ramping linearly from full black down to nothing over the fade-in window, and back up to full black over the fade-out window — then the video is re-encoded. Everything happens on your device through WebCodecs; nothing is uploaded.

How long can the fades be?+

Up to 15 seconds each, or half the video's length if it's shorter than 30 seconds.

Is it a linear fade to black?+

Yes — a straight-line fade to and from black, the standard look for a clean open or close.

Which browsers work?+

Chrome, Edge and Safari 17+ — the fade is applied during a full re-encode, which needs WebCodecs.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
