About normalizing audio
A recording that's too quiet, or inconsistent in volume from one part to the next, is a common problem with voice memos and amateur recordings. This tool evens that out, with two modes: peak normalize, which brings the loudest point up to just under clipping without distorting anything, and a fixed gain adjustment for a specific boost or cut.
The file is decoded into raw audio samples with the Web Audio API; peak normalize finds the loudest sample in the whole file and scales every sample by the factor needed to bring that peak to just under 0 dBFS, while gain mode applies a flat multiplier throughout. Everything runs in your browser.

Is my file uploaded?
No. Normalizing happens entirely in your browser with the Web Audio API — the file is never uploaded.

What does peak normalize do?+
It finds the single loudest sample and scales the whole file so that peak sits at −1 dBFS — as loud as possible without clipping.
Peak normalize vs. adjust gain?+
Peak normalize is automatic and based on the file's own level. Adjust gain applies a fixed dB change you choose, up or down.
Is this loudness (LUFS) normalization?+
No — it's peak-based, which is simpler and safe. True LUFS loudness matching needs a heavier analysis pass.
Is my file uploaded?+
No. Analysis and processing run entirely in your browser.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
