About the meme generator
The classic meme format is an image with bold white uppercase text — top and bottom — in the Impact typeface with a heavy black outline so it reads over any background. This tool applies exactly that: drop in a picture, type the two captions, and the text is drawn onto the image on a canvas in your browser.
The font size scales to the image width, and the outline thickness scales with it, so a caption looks right whether the picture is a thumbnail or full resolution. A live preview updates as you type. Nothing is uploaded — the image is read and drawn entirely on your device.
It's deliberately just the top/bottom format. For text placed anywhere on the image, at any size or colour, use Add Text to Image instead.
Supported files
Accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. Produces a PNG (if the source was PNG) or a JPG with the captions burned in.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The caption is drawn onto the image on a canvas in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
Common problems
- Long caption gets tiny or clipped
- The text is scaled to fit the image width. Shorten the caption or split it across the top and bottom.

Meme Generator — frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?+
No. The caption is drawn onto the image on a canvas in your browser.
What font is used?+
Impact (or Arial Black as a fallback) in white with a black outline — the classic meme look, auto-sized to the image width.
Can I put text in the middle?+
This version does top and bottom captions. For text anywhere, use Add Text to Image.
What format is the output?+
PNG if the source was PNG, otherwise JPG.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
