About removing silence from a video in the browser
Podcasts, tutorials, vlogs — most unedited recordings are full of dead air: pauses between sentences, gaps while someone gets set up, the silence after "cut" before anyone notices. This measures the audio's loudness through the clip, finds the stretches that stay quiet for long enough, and cuts them out, tightening the pacing without you scrubbing through the timeline by hand.
It reads the video once: the audio is analyzed in short windows to find the silent spans, then video and audio samples are streamed straight through and re-encoded, skipping anything that falls in a cut and keeping everything else — no separate export-then-rejoin step, and memory use doesn't grow with the video's length. A little padding is kept on either side of every cut so it doesn't feel abrupt. Everything happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Remove Silence from Video — frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?+
No. The audio is analyzed and the cuts are made entirely in your browser.
How does it detect silence?+
It measures the audio's loudness in short windows and marks the stretches that stay below the sensitivity threshold for long enough as silence — a little padding is kept around each cut so it doesn't feel abrupt.
Will it cut off words?+
It's tuned to be conservative by default — Low sensitivity only cuts long, obvious silences. High is more aggressive and can occasionally clip a soft word start; preview the result before trusting it on important footage.
Which browsers work?+
Chrome, Edge and Safari 17+ — cutting the video needs WebCodecs.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
