About blurring or pixelating part of an image

Hiding a face, a licence plate, or another private detail before sharing a photo publicly is a privacy step worth doing properly — a light blur that's still readable defeats the purpose. This tool lets you mark an area and applies a strong blur or pixelation over it.

The marked region is processed on a canvas with a real blur or block-pixelation filter applied to just that area — entirely in your browser. Because it's applied at export and the result is a flattened image, there's no way to "un-blur" it afterward the way you sometimes can with a reversible overlay; the original detail is genuinely gone from the output file.

Supported files

Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces the same image with your chosen area blurred or pixelated.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Blurring happens entirely in your browser on a canvas — the image is never uploaded, which matters for a privacy tool.

Blur / Censor Image — frequently asked questions

Blur or pixelate?+

Blur looks softer; pixelate (mosaic) is the classic censor look and is harder to reverse.

Can the blur be undone?+

A strong blur or pixelate is not practically reversible, which is the point.

Is there a free way to blur or pixelate part of a photo?+

Yes — this tool blurs or pixelates the marked area entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Is my file uploaded to blur it?+

No — the blur or pixelation is applied entirely in your browser on a canvas.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
