About cropping an image
Cropping is the most basic image edit there is — cutting an image down to just the area you want, whether that's removing a distracting background, focusing on a subject, or matching a specific aspect ratio for a platform that requires one. This tool draws a crop box directly over the image and cuts to exactly that area.
The image is decoded onto a canvas, and the selected region is redrawn onto a new canvas at its original resolution before being exported — entirely in your browser, with no quality loss beyond the format's own re-encoding. Drag the crop box freely or lock it to a common aspect ratio.
Supported files
Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces the cropped image in the same format.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser on a canvas — the image is never uploaded.

Crop Image — frequently asked questions
Is the image uploaded?+
No. Cropping happens on a canvas in your browser.
What format do I get back?+
The same format as the input (JPG, PNG or WebP).
Is there a free way to crop an image to any ratio?+
Yes — this tool crops the image entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.
Can I lock the crop to a specific aspect ratio?+
Yes — pick a common ratio (1:1, 16:9, 4:3 and more) to constrain the crop box, or drag it freely for any custom area.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
