About recording your screen in the browser

This records your screen, a single window, or a browser tab straight to a video file, using the browser's own screen-sharing picker — the same permission prompt a video call uses to share your screen — and MediaRecorder to save what it captures. There's no separate app to install and nothing leaves your device: the recording exists only as a local file until you download it.

Microphone audio can be mixed in, and tab audio can come along too when Chrome's tab-sharing option is picked (a full screen or a single window generally can't carry system audio, a browser limitation rather than one of this tool's). Recording stops either from the button here or from the browser's own "Stop sharing" control, whichever comes first.

Captures to WebM (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) or MP4 where the browser supports it.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The recording is captured and saved entirely in your browser.

How to Screen Recorder

    A live preview and timer show while it's recording; optionally include your microphone.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?+

No. It's captured and saved as a local file entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Can it record audio too?+

Yes — tick microphone audio, and tab/system audio if your browser and the thing you're sharing offer it (Chrome supports it for a tab; a full screen or window usually doesn't include system audio).

What format does it save as?+

WebM in most browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), which plays natively in any modern browser and video app. Need MP4? Run it through the WebM to MP4 converter afterward.

Does this work on mobile?+

No — screen capture via getDisplayMedia is a desktop browser feature. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
