About converting an image to JPG

A catch-all converter for turning any image your browser can open into JPG — still the most universally accepted photo format, for wherever compatibility matters more than lossless quality or transparency.

The image is decoded and re-encoded as JPG on a canvas at your chosen quality, entirely in your browser. If the source had a transparent background, it's flattened onto a solid color, since JPG has no transparency support.

Supported files

Accepts PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF and other common raster images. Produces a .jpg image.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Whatever image you upload is decoded and re-encoded as JPG entirely in your browser — it's never uploaded.

Image to JPG — frequently asked questions

What happens to transparency?+

JPG has none, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background.

Which formats can I convert from?+

Any image your browser can open — PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC and more.

Is the file uploaded?+

No — decoding and re-encoding happen entirely in your browser.

Is there a free way to convert any image to JPG?+

Yes — this tool re-encodes whatever image you upload as JPG entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
