About picking colors from an image

Matching a color from a photo or a design mockup exactly — for a brand palette, a CSS value, or just curiosity — needs the actual pixel value, not a guess by eye. This tool reads the exact color at any point you click on an image and shows it as HEX, RGB and HSL.

It reads the pixel data at your click position directly from the canvas the image is decoded onto, converts it to each color format, and shows all three with a one-click copy — entirely in your browser, with the full image never leaving your device.

Supported files

Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces a HEX, RGB and HSL value for any point you click.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The image is read entirely in your browser on a canvas — it's never uploaded.

Image Color Picker — frequently asked questions

Does it average an area or read one pixel?+

One pixel, exactly where you click.

Can I pick from a screenshot?+

Yes — paste or drop any image.

Is there a free way to get the HEX or RGB colour from an image?+

Yes — this tool reads the pixel colour entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Is my file uploaded to read the colour?+

No — the pixel is read directly from the canvas the image is decoded onto, entirely in your browser.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
