About splitting a video into equal parts

Splitting one long recording into shorter pieces is useful for turning a stream or podcast recording into several short-form clips, staying under a platform's upload length, or just breaking a long video into manageable sections. This cuts any common video file into the number of equal-length parts you choose and hands them back as a zip.

Clips are cut by copying the encoded video packets rather than re-encoding — the same lossless, near-instant approach Trim Video uses — so there's no quality loss and no long wait, even for a large file. Everything happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Supported files

Accepts MP4, MOV, WebM and other video your browser can play. Produces a zip of video clips in the same container.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The video is cut and packaged entirely in your browser.

Split Video — frequently asked questions

How is it split?+

Into the number of equal-length parts you choose. Each part is a separate file in the zip.

Is my video uploaded?+

No. It's cut and packaged entirely in your browser.

Does splitting re-encode the video?+

No — clips are cut by copying the encoded video packets (no quality loss), the same lossless approach Trim Video uses.

Can I split at specific times instead of equal parts?+

This version does equal parts. For one specific section, use Trim Video.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
