About converting an image to PNG

A catch-all converter for turning any image your browser can open into PNG — the lossless, transparency-supporting format that's the safest default when you're not sure what a destination expects.

The image is decoded and re-encoded as PNG on a canvas, entirely in your browser, with no loss of quality and transparency preserved if the source had any.

Supported files

Accepts JPG, WebP, BMP, GIF and other common raster images. Produces a .png image.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Whatever image you upload is decoded and re-encoded as PNG entirely in your browser — it's never uploaded.

Image to PNG — frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert from?+

JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF and more — anything your browser can decode.

Any quality loss?+

No. PNG is lossless, so the PNG is a pixel-exact copy of the decoded source.

Is transparency kept?+

Yes, if the source has an alpha channel (WebP, GIF). JPG sources have no transparency to keep.

Is there a free way to convert any image to lossless PNG?+

Yes — this tool re-encodes whatever image you upload as PNG entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
