About converting HEIC to JPG

HEIC (also HEIF) is the format iPhones save photos in by default — noticeably smaller than an equivalent JPG at the same quality, but not something every website, printer or Windows program can open without extra software. JPG opens absolutely everywhere, which is why this is one of the most common photo conversions people need.

The HEIC file is decoded to a bitmap and re-encoded as JPG on a canvas, entirely in your browser. JPG uses lossy compression, so the file gets somewhat smaller in exchange for a very slight, generally invisible loss of detail — the standard trade-off of the format, not a flaw in the conversion.

Supported files

Accepts HEIC/HEIF photos. Produces a .jpg image.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Decoding and re-encoding both happen entirely in your browser — the photo is never uploaded.

How to HEIC to JPG

  1. 1

    Add the HEIC photo

Drop in a .heic or .heif file from your iPhone — it is decoded locally.

  2. 2

    Convert

The photo is re-encoded as a standard JPG that opens anywhere.

  3. 3

    Download the JPG

Save the JPG — ready to share or upload anywhere HEIC isn't accepted.

HEIC to JPG — frequently asked questions

Why won't my iPhone HEIC photos open on Windows or the web?+

HEIC is Apple's format and many apps and sites don't support it. Converting to JPG makes the photo open everywhere.

Is the conversion done online?+

The decoding and conversion run entirely in your browser — the photo is not uploaded.

Can I convert several at once?+

This tool converts one photo at a time. To combine many HEIC photos into one file, use HEIC to PDF.

Is there a free way to convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG?+

Yes — this tool decodes and re-encodes the HEIC photo entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
