About extracting images from a PDF
PDFs often contain photos, logos, or scanned figures embedded as image objects on the page, and getting one back out as a standalone file — for reuse in a slide deck, a website, or another document — isn't something a normal reader lets you do beyond a screenshot. This tool finds every embedded image in a PDF and pulls it out at its original resolution.
It walks each page's content and resource dictionaries with pdf-lib, extracting the raw image objects rather than re-rendering the page, so quality matches exactly what was embedded — no re-compression, no upscaling. A PDF with several images across multiple pages returns all of them together as a zip; a single image comes back as one downloadable file.
Supported files
Accepts a PDF. Produces the embedded images as their original files (JPG or PNG depending on how they were stored), zipped if there's more than one.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Images are extracted entirely in your browser with pdf-lib — nothing is uploaded.
Common problems
- Nothing comes out, or only some images
- A page that looks like a photo but is actually one big scanned image still counts as one embedded image — that's expected. Vector graphics and text aren't images and won't be extracted; only genuine embedded raster images are.

Extract Images from PDF — frequently asked questions
How is this different from PDF to JPG?+
PDF to JPG rasterizes each whole page as one image. This tool instead pulls out just the individual photos and logos embedded within the page, each as its own file.
Why didn't it find any images?+
The PDF may be text-only, or its visuals may be built from vector shapes and fonts rather than embedded raster images — vector content isn't something this tool extracts.
What format are the extracted images saved as?+
PNG, regardless of how the image was originally encoded inside the PDF, so quality is preserved even for formats browsers can't otherwise handle directly.
How do I save all the photos inside a PDF for free?+
Drop the PDF in here — every embedded photo and logo is pulled out and bundled into a zip, free and processed entirely in your browser.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
