About converting timestamps
Unix timestamps — a count of seconds (or milliseconds) since January 1, 1970 — are how most systems store dates internally, but they're meaningless to read at a glance. This tool converts between a Unix timestamp and a human-readable date and time, in either direction.
Conversion uses your browser's built-in JavaScript Date handling, respecting your local timezone (with a toggle for UTC) — entirely client-side, so there's no lag waiting on a server round trip for something this simple.
Supported files
No file — enter a timestamp or a date. Produces the converted value in the other direction, instantly.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes, completely private. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.

Enter a value

- 2

Timestamp Converter — frequently asked questions
Does it accept seconds or milliseconds?+
Both — it detects which based on the magnitude of the number.
What timezone is 'local'?+
Your device's timezone. UTC and ISO are also shown.
Is there a free Unix timestamp converter online?+
Yes — this tool converts the timestamp entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.
Is my data sent anywhere?+
No — conversion uses your browser's own JavaScript Date handling; nothing is sent to a server.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
