About changing a PDF's text color
Recoloring a document's text — for a themed handout, better contrast against a colored background, or just personal preference — is another edit that normally means rebuilding the page in a design tool. This tool recolors a document's text and other dark content in one pass.
It re-renders each page as an image with pdf.js, replaces dark pixels (text and similar high-contrast content) with your chosen color while leaving lighter background areas alone, and rebuilds the PDF with pdf-lib — entirely in your browser. As with the background-color tool, this works by re-rendering, so selectable text becomes part of a flattened image in the result.
Supported files
Accepts a PDF and a color. Produces the same PDF with text and dark content recolored throughout.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The text recolor runs entirely in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib — nothing is uploaded.

Change PDF Text Color — frequently asked questions
Can I recolour just one paragraph?+
No — this shifts all dark content on every page at once. For targeted edits use Edit PDF Text.
Is there a free way to change a PDF's text colour?+
Yes — this tool recolors the text entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.
Can I preview the new colour before applying it?+
Yes — a live preview on the current page shows the recolored text before you apply it to the whole document.
Is my file uploaded to recolor it?+
No — the recolor runs entirely in your browser.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
