About fading audio in and out
A hard cut at the start or end of an audio clip sounds abrupt — a click, or a jarring drop to silence. A short fade fixes that: the volume ramps up smoothly from nothing at the beginning and ramps back down at the end. This tool adds both, on any common audio file, in your browser.
You set how many seconds each fade lasts, up to 15. The fade is a straight-line volume ramp applied directly to the decoded audio samples, which sounds natural for music, speech and ambience alike. On a very short clip the two fades can overlap, which just means the whole thing swells and recedes.
The processed audio is re-encoded to MP3 or WAV. Everything happens on your device — the file is never uploaded — so it also keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
