About adding text to an image

Captioning a photo, adding a label to a diagram, or putting a title over a banner image is a common small edit that doesn't need a full design tool. This tool drops a text caption anywhere on an image, with your choice of font size and color.

The image is decoded onto a canvas, your text is drawn on top at the position, size and color you set, and the combined result is exported as a new image — entirely in your browser. The text is baked into the pixels on export, the same as any image caption.

Supported files

Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces the same image with your caption drawn onto it.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Text is drawn entirely in your browser on a canvas — the image is never uploaded.

Add Text to Image — frequently asked questions

Can I add multiple text blocks?+

One at a time — run the tool again on the result to stack more.

Is the text editable later?+

No, it's rendered into the image. Keep your original if you might change it.

Is there a free way to add a text caption to a photo?+

Yes — this tool draws the caption entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.

Can I choose the font size and color?+

Yes — set the size and color before placing the text, and reposition it by dragging in the preview.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
