About removing annotations from a PDF
A PDF that's been through several rounds of review can accumulate comments, highlights, sticky notes and other markup from every editor who touched it — useful during review, clutter once the document is final. This tool strips every comment, highlight, sticky note and markup object from a PDF in one pass.
It walks each page's annotation objects with pdf-lib and removes them, leaving the underlying page content completely untouched — entirely in your browser. This is a narrower operation than Sanitize PDF, which also strips metadata, embedded JavaScript and attachments; use this one when you specifically want to clear markup but keep everything else about the file as it is.

Remove Annotations — frequently asked questions
Does this remove form fields too?+
Yes — form fields are annotations, so a fillable form is flattened to a plain page. Use Flatten PDF if you want to keep the filled-in values baked on.
Does it remove redactions?+
Proper redactions from Redact PDF are flattened into the page and stay. This only removes live annotation objects.
Is there a free way to strip comments and markup from a PDF?+
Yes — this tool strips the markup entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.
Does it work on a PDF with dozens of comments?+
Yes — every annotation object is removed in one pass, regardless of how many there are.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
