About converting PNG to ICO

ICO is the icon-file format Windows apps and website favicons use — unlike a normal image file, it's actually a small container that can hold several resolutions of the same icon so the operating system picks whichever fits (a taskbar icon needs a different size than a desktop shortcut).

The PNG is resized to the standard icon resolutions and packed into a single .ico container, entirely in your browser. Start from a square PNG with a simple, bold design — fine detail rarely survives being shrunk down to a 16×16 icon.
