About generating a favicon
A favicon is the small icon a browser shows in a tab, bookmarks and a phone's home screen — and getting one right actually means producing several sizes, since different contexts expect different pixel dimensions. This tool takes one image and generates a complete favicon set from it.
The source image is resized on a canvas to each required size — the standard set browsers and devices expect, from a small tab icon up to a larger home-screen icon — and packaged together for download, entirely in your browser. Start from a square image with a simple, bold design; a busy or highly detailed image loses a lot when scaled down to 16×16 pixels.
Supported files
Accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and other common images. Produces a set of favicon files at the standard required sizes.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Every icon size is rendered entirely in your browser on a canvas — the image is never uploaded.

Favicon Generator — frequently asked questions
What's in the zip?+
favicon.ico plus PNGs at 16, 32, 48, 64, 128, 180, 192, 256 and 512 px, and a README with the <link> tags.
Does the .ico work in old browsers?+
It's a PNG-in-ICO, which every browser since Internet Explorer 11 supports.
What size should my source image be?+
Square and at least 512×512 for crisp results at every size.
Is there a free favicon generator online?+
Yes — this tool. It runs entirely in your browser, free and downloaded as a zip.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
