About creating a booklet PDF
Printing a document as a foldable, saddle-stitched booklet — the kind you fold in half and staple through the spine — needs the pages reordered in a specific, non-obvious way: the last page next to the first, the second-to-last next to the second, and so on, two pages per printed sheet. This tool does that page imposition automatically.
It first pads the document to a multiple of 4 pages if needed (booklets require groups of 4), then reorders and lays two pages side by side per landscape sheet using pdf-lib, entirely in your browser. Print the result double-sided, flipping on the short edge, then fold the stack in half and staple along the spine — the pages land in the right reading order once folded.
Supported files
Accepts a PDF. Produces a landscape PDF with two pages per sheet, reordered for booklet folding.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The imposition runs entirely in your browser with pdf-lib — nothing is uploaded.
Common problems
- The page order looks wrong when I just read the PDF normally
- That's expected — booklet order only reads correctly after printing double-sided and folding. Viewed flat on screen, the pages are deliberately out of sequence.

Create Booklet — frequently asked questions
What page order do I get?+
Standard saddle-stitch imposition — the first sheet carries the last and first pages side by side, and so on inward.
Do I need a specific paper size?+
Each sheet is twice the width of your largest page, so print at that size or let the printer scale to fit.
Is there a free way to lay out a PDF for booklet printing?+
Yes — this tool imposes the pages for booklet printing entirely in your browser, free and with nothing uploaded.
Does it work if my page count isn't a multiple of 4?+
Yes — blank pages are added automatically to pad the document to the next multiple of 4 before imposing it.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
