About recording from your camera
This turns your webcam into a recorder without installing anything: the browser's own getUserMedia and MediaRecorder APIs capture video (and, optionally, audio) straight to a local file — there's no upload step because there's nothing to upload to.
The output is WebM in most browsers, since that's what MediaRecorder produces natively and it plays back fine in the browser and in modern media players. If you need MP4 for compatibility with an older app or device, run the result through the WebM to MP4 converter afterward.
Supported files
Records to WebM (most browsers). Convert to MP4 afterward if needed.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Capture and saving both happen locally via your browser's MediaRecorder API — the video never leaves your device.
Common problems
- The browser won't let the camera start
- Check your browser and OS camera permissions for this site, and make sure no other app or tab is already using the camera.
- Recording without audio
- Make sure "Include microphone" was ticked before you clicked Start recording — it can't be added after the fact.

Camera Recorder — frequently asked questions
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?+
No. Your webcam feed, accessed via getUserMedia, is captured and saved as a local file entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
Can I record without a microphone?+
Yes — untick "Include microphone" before starting to record video-only.
What format does it save as?+
WebM in most browsers, which plays natively everywhere. Need MP4? Run it through the WebM to MP4 converter afterward.
Does this work on mobile?+
Camera access via getUserMedia works on many mobile browsers too, though the experience is most reliable on desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
Do you upload my files to a server?+
No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.
Is there a file size limit?+
There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
