About editing text in a PDF

Editing existing text in a PDF is genuinely hard, because a PDF stores positioned glyphs rather than editable paragraphs. This tool handles the common case: fixing a small piece of text — a date, a name, a number — in place.

It works by covering the old text and drawing the replacement in a matching font and size, all in your browser. It is not a full word processor and won't reflow surrounding text, so it suits corrections rather than rewriting. For bigger changes, convert to Word, edit there, and export back.

How to Edit PDF Text

Why does it say no editable text was found?+

This tool edits text that's already selectable in the PDF — it can't add text-editing to a scanned page or a photo of a document, since those are just images. Run OCR PDF first to make a scan searchable, or use Add Text to PDF to stamp new text on top instead.

Will editing text change the font or layout?+

The edit keeps the original font, size, and position as closely as the PDF's structure allows — you're replacing the content of an existing text run, not retyping the page from scratch.

Can I edit text on more than one page?+

Yes — switch between pages using the page selector, and your edits on each page are kept until you generate the final PDF.

Is this the same as annotating a PDF?+

No — this changes the actual underlying text in the document. Annotate PDF and Highlight PDF add marks and notes on top of a page without touching the original text.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The only exception is the AI tools, which send the extracted text (not the file) to Claude to do their work.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
