About converting PDF to Word
This extracts the text from a PDF into an editable .docx so you can revise a document you only have as a PDF. It is built for getting the words back, not for reproducing the exact visual design.
The extraction runs in your browser. Plain, text-based PDFs convert well; the output keeps paragraphs and basic structure but does not rebuild multi-column layouts, precise spacing, or complex tables. Scanned PDFs have no text to extract — run them through OCR first. Nothing is uploaded during the conversion.
This is a text-extraction tool, not a layout-recreation tool. It's built for getting the words back into an editable document so you can revise them — it does not rebuild multi-column layouts, precise spacing, headers/footers or complex tables. For a form or a design-heavy document, editing the PDF directly is usually a better route than converting.
Supported files
Accepts a text-based PDF. Produces a .docx (Microsoft Word) file. Scanned PDFs contain no text layer — run them through OCR PDF first.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The text is extracted from the PDF's own content stream in your browser and written into a .docx locally. Your document is never sent anywhere.
Common problems
- The Word file is empty or only has a few characters
- The PDF is a scan (an image of a page) with no text layer. Run it through the OCR PDF tool first, then convert the searchable copy.
- The layout is a mess — everything's in one column
- Expected. The tool recovers the text and basic paragraph breaks, not the original page design. Re-format in Word, or keep the PDF and use Edit PDF for small changes.
- Tables came through as loose text
- Table structure is hard to detect reliably from a PDF. Rebuild tables in Word, or try PDF to Excel if the table is the main thing you need.

This tool extracts text only — layout, images, and tables aren't reconstructed. It's meant for quickly getting editable text out, not a pixel-perfect conversion.
Why did it produce an empty document?+
If the PDF is a scanned image with no selectable text layer, there's no text to extract. This tool doesn't perform OCR.
Does this produce a .doc or a .docx file?+
A .docx file — the modern Word format used by Word 2007 and later, and by Google Docs, LibreOffice, and Pages.
