PDFCure

A free Clipchamp alternative

A free Clipchamp alternative that doesn't need a Microsoft account or an upload step.

Clipchamp, now owned by Microsoft and bundled into Windows 11 and Microsoft 365, is unusual for this category in that its free tier doesn't watermark exports. It does require signing in with a Microsoft account, uploads your video to Microsoft's servers to edit it, and caps free exports at 1080p — 4K and premium stock assets are gated behind a Microsoft 365 subscription.

PDFCure's video tools skip the account and the upload entirely: the file is processed on your device with WebCodecs and never leaves it. For someone who just wants to trim, convert or caption a clip without signing into anything, that's one less step.

Both are genuinely watermark-free on their free tiers — the real difference is the account requirement and where the processing happens.

Where Clipchamp does more: Clipchamp is a real timeline-based editor with transitions, stock footage, text animations and Microsoft 365 integration (OneDrive, Teams) — built for assembling a video from multiple clips and assets, not for processing one file at a time. Editing a video from scratch with music, transitions and titles is a better fit for Clipchamp's project-based editor.
