ID Photo Maker — frequently asked questions

Does this remove the background behind the person?+

No — it only crops and resizes the photo you upload onto a solid-color canvas, filling any leftover margin. It doesn't detect or remove what's already behind the subject in the original photo.

Will the exact pixel size meet official passport/visa requirements?+

The presets target common published sizes at print resolution, but requirements vary by country and issuer — double-check the exact spec for your application before submitting.

What's the difference between "Fill frame" and "Fit inside"?+

Fill frame scales the photo up until it covers the whole frame, cropping any excess — the usual choice for a headshot. Fit inside scales it down to show the entire photo, which can leave a background-colored margin on two sides.

Do you upload my files to a server?+

No — every tool here processes your files entirely on your device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The AI tools that used to send extracted text to a server are currently disabled.

Is there a file size limit?+

There's no artificial limit we impose, but since processing happens in your browser, very large files (500+ MB or 1,000+ pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by us.
