About PDFCure
PDFCure is a free collection of 150+ PDF and image tools that run entirely in your web browser. Merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing, redacting and the rest all happen on your own device — your files are never uploaded to a server.
Why it works this way
Most online PDF services upload your document, process it on their servers, and send the result back. That means a copy of your file — often something personal, like a contract, a payslip or an ID scan — sits on a machine you don't control.
PDFCure takes the opposite approach. The same open-source libraries a desktop app would use are compiled to run inside the browser, so the work is done in the page you have open. Load a tool, disconnect from the internet, and most of them still work. You can verify this yourself in about a minute — the How it works page walks through checking the network tab while a tool runs.
The one exception
Three tools — Summarize, Ask your PDF, and Translate — need a language model to read your document, so they send its extracted text to an AI provider to generate a response. There is no way around that for those specific tasks, so they are opt-in, sit behind a Google sign-in, and carry a daily limit. Every other tool on the site needs neither an account nor a connection once loaded. The Privacy Policy spells out exactly what those three tools do.
How it's paid for
The tools are free and stay free. Running the site is funded by unobtrusive display ads on the tool and article pages, and by an optional Pro upgrade that removes ads for people who'd rather pay than see them. There is no metered free tier, no watermark added to your files, and no feature locked behind a paywall.
Being honest about limits
Some things genuinely can't be done well in a browser yet — full PDF encryption, high-accuracy OCR for every language, pixel-perfect PDF-to-PowerPoint. Rather than ship a broken version, those are marked "coming soon" until they're actually good. If a tool here produces a result, it's a result we'd be willing to use ourselves.
