Is the video re-encoded?+

Yes, and it runs in real time (the length of the video), because it re-records the picture without the sound track. Best for short clips.

What format is the output?+

MP4 where the browser can record it, otherwise WebM.

Can I get the audio back later?+

Not from the muted file — keep your original if you might need the sound.
